Enjoyed Somewhere and Blue Valentine last evening.

Blue Valentine centers on a contemporary married couple, charting their evolution over a span of years by cross-cutting between time periods. In Somewhere, a Hollywood actor re-examines his life after his 11-year-old daughter re-enters his life. Sofia Coppola directed this one.

Both films are melancholic and exploratory of the main characters’ situations. Great writing, acting and direction can’t go wrong. I with the limited core material – the results are excellent. 8.5/10 both.
