Saw The King’s Speech this evening – 8/10. i was not disappointed however i didn’t expect much and it delivered as expected. very good acting.

The story was much too simple – but it is a historical piece so i imagine the writers had to stick to the facts. lots of pageantry and silly monarchy protocol and traditions. and shouldn’t the king spend a bit more time understanding the situation in pre-war Europe than his speaking ability? very hard to be moved by this one. the proletariat should be more concerned with the content of the speech of which there was little – neither of which was depicted in the film. modern times still carries this to some extent: many people are moved more by the showmanship / how someone looks or speaks – than by the message and how it affects their lives.
