Artificial clouds will cool Qatar for 2022 World Cup

With temperatures soaring as high as 50 degrees Celsius in the summer there was speculation the World Cup would take place in the winter and alter the fixture calenders of the major leagues across the globe.

Qatar have developed artificial clouds to provide shade for stadiums and training grounds at the 2022 World Cup.

Qatar has the world’s largest per capita production and proven reserves of both oil and natural gas. In 2010, Qatar had the world’s highest GDP per capita, while the economy grew by 19.40%, the fastest in the world. Qatar has the highest human development in the Arab world after the United Arab Emirates.

Lots of Money = Lots of Clouds!

Another Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan

Another Canadian soldier died in Afghanistan today –  Yannick Scherrer of Victoriaville, Quebec, was killed by a roadside bomb. That’s 155 total as of today.

Every time I hear about a new death it makes me feel sad an angry to think of the senseless death of so many young men and women (soldiers and civilians).

Yannick Scherrer

I wonder whether soldiers like Yannick ever stop to really think about the mission they are sent on, the whys – the rationale. and the expected outcome. I firmly believe that no matter what your job is you have to consider the implications to others and more importantly to yourself.

Plain and Simple – Canada should not be involved in nation-building. If not on moral grounds then on the fact that it creates enemies that we didn’t have before.

There are so many humanitarian missions in need of our help – missions the country could be proud of and get behind.

Bring the troops home. Send them to Haiti. Or the Sudan. Or Japan!
